Connecting a wireless presenter to an interactive screen or laptop
A wireless presenter, sometimes called a clicker, lets you move slides forward without standing at the laptop. They are small and easy to use, but the connection can confuse people.
Connecting a USB presenter
- Take the small receiver out of the presenter, if it is stored inside.
- Plug it into a USB port on the computer that is running the slides.
- Wait a few seconds for the computer to recognise it.
- Open your presentation in slideshow mode.
- Press the next button on the presenter.
Which computer?
The receiver must be plugged into the device that is running your slides. If you have the receiver in the interactive screen's USB socket but the slides are on a laptop, it may not work.
If it works only sometimes
- Check the batteries. A weak battery gives a poor range.
- Move closer to the receiver.
- Keep the receiver away from metal. A USB extension lead can help.
- Try another USB port.
Bluetooth presenters
Turn on Bluetooth on the computer. Put the presenter into pairing mode as its instructions say, and choose it from the list. For help, see our Bluetooth guide.
When to get more help
If the computer does not recognise the receiver, it may be blocked by your organisation's security settings. Ask your IT team. If the screen is managed by your school or company, some settings may be locked. Your IT team or the supplier you bought the screen from can help with warranty, firmware and admin-locked settings.
