Connecting a Clevertouch screen to Wi-Fi or a wired network
The built-in apps, web browser, cloud saving and wireless sharing all need the screen to be on a network. Many schools and offices set this up when the screen is installed, but you may need to check it.
Check first
Look for a Wi-Fi or network icon on the screen, often in a toolbar or settings page. If it shows connected, you may not need to do anything.
Wired connection
A cable from the wall to the screen's network socket is often the most reliable choice. If your room has one:
- Check the network cable is clicked into the screen's network socket. It looks like a wide phone socket.
- Check the other end is in the wall or network box.
- Wait a minute. The screen may connect by itself.
Wi-Fi
- Open Settings. On many screens this is on the home screen or in the app list. The place may differ by model.
- Choose the Wi-Fi or Network section.
- Pick the school or office network from the list. Choose the staff network if your IT team says so.
- Enter the password if asked.
- Wait for it to say connected.
Important points
- Guest Wi-Fi may not allow screen sharing or file sharing.
- Some networks need a special sign-in or certificate that only IT can set up. If so, you cannot connect with just a password.
- Do not share the Wi-Fi password with pupils.
- The screen and your device usually need to be on the same network for Clevershare or other wireless sharing.
If it will not connect
- Check the Wi-Fi works on another device.
- Choose to forget the network and try again.
- Restart the screen.
- Move the router or screen if signal is weak. Ask IT for this.
When to get more help
If the network list is empty, the password is rejected, or the settings are locked, ask your IT team. Network settings are often controlled by an administrator. If the screen is managed by your school or company, some settings may be locked. Your IT team or the supplier you bought the screen from can help with warranty, firmware and admin-locked settings.
