Screen mirroring and casting to a Clevertouch screen
You can often show a phone, tablet or laptop on an interactive screen without leads. How you do it depends on the device and on what your school or office has set up.
Clevershare
Many Clevertouch screens include or support an app called Clevershare. The basic process is usually:
- Tap the Clevershare icon on the screen. It shows a connection code and may show a QR code.
- On your laptop, phone or tablet, open the Clevershare app. You may be able to scan the QR code instead of typing.
- Enter the connection code if asked.
- Choose to share your screen and confirm. You may need to accept a request on the interactive screen.
The app and its options can change between versions, so follow the prompts on your own screen.
The same network
Wireless sharing normally needs the screen and your device to be on the same network, or one that lets them find each other. Guest Wi-Fi often will not work for this. If it fails, ask your IT team which network to use.
Other options
Some screens and software versions can also work with Chromecast-style or AirPlay-style casting. This may need to be turned on in the Clevershare settings. Whether yours supports it depends on the model and on settings your IT team controls. Do not assume it will work.
If it will not connect
- Check both devices are on the correct Wi-Fi.
- Check the code is typed correctly. Codes can change when the app is restarted.
- Close and reopen the app on both devices.
- Restart the screen.
- Use an HDMI lead instead, if the screen has a free HDMI socket.
Privacy
Before sharing, close private messages, emails and anything with pupil or staff details. Notifications can appear on the big screen.
When to get more help
If wireless sharing is blocked or never works, the network may restrict it. Ask your IT team. They can also install the app on school laptops. If the screen is managed by your school or company, some settings may be locked. Your IT team or the supplier you bought the screen from can help with warranty, firmware and admin-locked settings.
