Samsung TV Art Mode, The Frame and Ambient Mode explained
Some Samsung TVs can show artwork, photos or soft backgrounds when you are not watching. Which of these your TV offers depends on the model.
The Frame and Art Mode
The Frame is a Samsung TV designed to look like a picture on the wall. It has an Art Mode that shows artwork or your own photos when the TV is off. Only The Frame models have Art Mode, so if you have a different Samsung TV, you will not find it.
On The Frame, Art Mode normally starts when you press the power button briefly. A long press on the power button usually switches the TV fully off. This can differ by year and model, so check your manual.
Ambient Mode
Some other Samsung TVs have Ambient Mode (or similar), which shows clocks, weather, photos or patterns. On models that have it, you may find it by pressing the Ambient button on the remote or in the Home menu. Availability depends on the model and year.
Show your own photos
On supporting TVs, the SmartThings app on your phone is often used to send photos to the TV. Look for an option such as Art Mode or Ambient in the app. Follow what it shows, as steps change between versions.
Settings that save energy
Art Mode and Ambient Mode use power. Look in the settings for options such as brightness, motion sensor or timer so the TV turns the display off when the room is empty or dark. Options vary by model.
If it does not work
- Update the TV software under Settings > Support > Software Update.
- Check the TV has internet.
- Restart by unplugging the TV for a minute.
Do not confuse it with a screen saver
Leaving a normal bright static image on a TV for hours can cause burn-in. Art Mode is designed for this use but regular models are not.
When to get more help
If your TV has no such mode in the manual, Samsung may not support it. Vision Tech can help you check your model's features.
