Moving, transporting and mounting an interactive screen safely

Please note: this is independent guidance. Vision Tech is not affiliated with Clevertouch. Menus and features differ between models and software versions, so check your screen's own manual or on-screen help, and speak to your school IT team or supplier before changing admin-locked settings, updating firmware or doing a factory reset.

Interactive screens are large, heavy and easy to damage. Moving or mounting one is not a job for a teacher or an untrained helper.

Mounting

Always get a qualified installer to fit a wall mount or a stand. The wall must be able to carry the weight, and the fixings must suit the wall type. A screen that falls can seriously injure someone. Vision Tech is not affiliated with screen manufacturers, so please use your supplier or the installer your organisation trusts, and follow the manufacturer's instructions.

If a screen needs to be moved

  1. Tell your IT team, premises team or supplier first.
  2. Do not carry it by yourself.
  3. Switch off and unplug it. Disconnect the leads.
  4. Use the correct trolley, stand or lift. Many screens need two or more people.
  5. Hold it by the frame, not the glass, and keep it upright.
  6. Take care in doorways and corridors.

Using a mobile stand

  • Use the brakes on the wheels.
  • Keep leads tidy and not across floors.
  • Move slowly and avoid slopes or thresholds.
  • Never let pupils push or climb on it.
  • Check the stand is rated for the screen's size and weight.

Transporting

Use the original box and padding if you can. Keep the screen upright unless the maker says otherwise. Do not stack things on top of it. Protect it from rain and cold. After being moved from a cold vehicle, leave it to warm up before switching on. Condensation can cause problems.

When to get more help

Call a professional for mounting, relocating a wall-mounted screen, or anything involving fixings and electrics. Tell them the model and the weight and size shown on the label or manual. If the screen is managed by your school or company, some settings may be locked. Your IT team or the supplier you bought the screen from can help with warranty, firmware and admin-locked settings.

Did this help? If you are still stuck, email Vision Tech and tell us what you can see on the screen. Menus and button names can differ slightly between versions and makes. If something does not match, stop and ask rather than guess.
