Brightness, eye-care mode, language, date and time on a Clevertouch screen

Please note: this is independent guidance. Vision Tech is not affiliated with Clevertouch. Menus and features differ between models and software versions, so check your screen's own manual or on-screen help, and speak to your school IT team or supplier before changing admin-locked settings, updating firmware or doing a factory reset.

A few simple settings make the screen more comfortable to look at and help sign-in and calendars work properly. The menus differ between models and software versions, so follow the general approach and look for matching options.

Opening settings

Touch the Settings icon on the home screen or in the side toolbar. If you cannot find it, check the quick settings menu on the edge of the screen or look in the app list.

Brightness

  1. Open settings or the quick settings panel.
  2. Look for brightness, backlight or display options.
  3. Drag the slider up in a bright room and down in a dim one.

Lower brightness is easier on the eyes and can help the screen last longer. If the picture looks washed out, check this setting first.

Eye-care or blue light mode

Many screens have a mode that reduces blue light or warms the colour. Look in the display settings for something with a name like eye care, low blue light or reading mode. If you do not see one, your model may not have it. It can make white backgrounds look slightly yellow, which is normal. Turn it off if you need colours to be accurate, such as in art lessons.

Language

  1. Open settings and find Language or System.
  2. Choose English (United Kingdom) if you want British spellings and layout.
  3. The menu may restart or take a moment to update.

If the screen suddenly shows another language, look for the globe icon or the same menu order, as the position of settings often stays the same.

Date and time

Open the date and time settings. Many screens can set these automatically when connected to the internet. If the time is wrong, check that the correct time zone is set. Wrong dates and times can stop websites and school accounts loading.

Some settings may be locked

Your school may protect some settings so pupils cannot change them. If an option is greyed out, this is probably deliberate.

When to get more help

Ask IT if the screen is too dim even at full brightness, the time keeps resetting, or you need a setting that is locked. Mention your model and what you have already tried.

Did this help? If you are still stuck, email Vision Tech and tell us what you can see on the screen. Menus and button names can differ slightly between versions and makes. If something does not match, stop and ask rather than guess.
